NERR 2025 Routes & Itineraries

Since NERR 2024 was such a tough one to plan, we are currently about three months behind on planning NERR 2025. Because of that, hotels are much harder to secure (because of our last start), so we're going to reach deep into the well, to try and make it a little easier to plan.
While 2024's event was really about the drive, this year will be more about enjoying the destinations each day.
2025's event will kickoff in Saugus MA on Saturday morning. That day will end in York, ME. We are still working out all the other stops, but right now we're planning on finishing up our final night (Tuesday) somewhere between, VT, western MA, or eastern, NY
Friday October 3, 2025
While this is not an actual part of NERR 2025, since some people are coming in early, we are giving them some options of things to do, while they are here......
1) People really seemed to love Gettysburg during 2024's run, so continuing with that type of theme. How about a visit to the location of "The shot heard around the world" and to where Paul Revere was captured by the British? The Minute Man National Historical Park ( https://www.nps.gov/mima/ ) is about 20 miles from our kickoff spot, if you like American history. This is where America's birthplace really started.
2) How about a visit to the Salem Maritime National Historic Site ( https://www.nps.gov/sama/ )? This was the very first National historic site in the entire country. Not that big of a site, but still a neat little take that is only about 12 miles from our kickoff location on Saturday Morning.
3) Since we've already mentioned Salem, how can we not talk about Salem's biggest draw? Salem is pretty much the Halloween capital of the world and they kick the season off that Thursday night, with their Grand Halloween parade. ( www.hauntedhappenings.org ). While they entertain well over 1,000,000 tourists through the entire month, this is the perfect time to see a lot of the attractions without having to endure the crazy crowds.
We will try to put some decent hotels on the site soon, that are near these places, along with ones being near our kickoff point too.

Saturday October 4, 2025
IMPORTANT UPDATE.... BECAUSE OF THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN, KICKOFF TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 9:30AM SHARP!!!!!!
Kickoff location: Saugus Iron Works
Saugus, MA to York Beach, Maine
Instead of us just meeting in a parking lot somewhere, we are doing something a little different for 2025. We are kicking off at the Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site ( www.nps.gov/sair/ ), in Saugus, MA. Usually we announce our A.I.S. time and people show up a little early to hang out and mingle before we hit the road. While not everything will be open at the Iron works, The grounds are open 24 hours, so there is still plenty of stuff to check out. I'd give yourself about an hour to walk around. The bathrooms open at 9:30AM and that's why we have the later start time.
For 2025, people will have the option of showing up extra early to check out the Iron Works, before we hit the road. Besides our regular A.I.S. (ass in seat) time, we'll have an earlier B.I.P.L. (butt in parking lot) time, so that people can get any needed information for the day, before we hit the road. There are also restrooms here.
People can plan on being in York with plenty of time to enjoy the area. From going to the beach right across the street from our hotel, to seeing Nubble Lighthouse ( www.yorkparksandrec.org/nubble-light-house ), or heading over to the York Beach Beer Company ( www.yorkbeachbeer.co ), or visiting one of the many little shops or restaurants all within about a mile of our host property, people will be glad they have the extra time to spend in the area.
The route is broken down into two legs, mainly just to make it easier to map out. With the total route being under 100 miles (our shortest drive ever), we really don't have any big restroom/gas stops planned. The only one is just 20 minutes into the drive & this is mainly because we might need to regroup before starting the scenic part of the drive.
There is also one more stop/re-group at the end of the first leg. The second leg will be the more laidback end of the drive
B.I.P.L time: -------
A.I.S time: 9:30

Important notes:
1)After step #19 and before #20 there is a fork in the road, if you're not paying attention you might go the wrong way. Just follow the signs for Route 22W
2) the directions show a stop at 133-145 MA-1A, but ignore that and point #29. We just used that as a waypoint for planning purposes

Important notes: only thing of note on this leg is after step #15 get to the left quickly, to continue onto #16. this will look familiar to some of you
Sunday October 5, 2025
York Beach, Maine to Lincon, NH
There is a lot of road time today, but it will be well worth it. today's route is also broken down into two legs.
We have a gas stop about two hours in. This will be a great place for everyone to catch back up, in case the pack gets separated, so we can all drive into our first P.O.I. stop of the day together.
Our first point of interest stop will be a shop visit at Horsepower Farm ( http://horsepowerfarmllc.com ), where people can check out the latest projects Rick and the crew are working on.
The second point of interest stop will be the New England Racing Museum ( https://nermuseum.com ) which is located on the grounds of New Hampshire Notor Speedway.
A.I.S. time: 8:00AM
Link to Leg 1: https://maps.app.goo.gl/wVemFTdWzT5of3yz7
Important notes:
Step #35 is basically pulling into our gas stop, then when we leave we will get back onto Shaker Rd
Step #43 is our next real direction as we pull onto Shaker Brook Park, where HPF is located.
All the rest of the directions between #35 and #43 are just turns in the parking lots, so ignore them to keep the confusion to a minimum.

Important notes: This leg is only 92 miles, so we didn't put any breaks in the route, before the hotel.
What we are adding, after the fact is......
After the left at step #9, we are going to pull off at Kingswood Regional High School (about 1 mile after we make the turn). This will only be for a very quick 5 or 10 minute stop, just to gather everyone together again, before we continue on
Monday October 6, 2025
Lincoln, NH to Ticonderoga, NY
This just might be the highlight drive of the entire event. It also the longest, covering three states and going through three separate mountain ranges. Lots of scenic stuff and a bunch of twisties on this one. We have two rest stop/gas breaks included
A.I.S. time: 8:30
Link to route: https://maps.app.goo.gl/CDERDQfHFV6YtE3F7
Important notes: Nothing special to note. Pretty straight forward drive
Tuesday October 7, 2025
Ticonderoga, NY to Lake Placid, NY
POSSIBLE BIG CHANGES FOR THIS ONE..........
This will be another short leg, but for good reason. Many people asked about a two-night stay somewhere for 2025 and while we didn't do that, I think we did the next best thing. While we aren't spending two days in Lake Placid, we will be getting there real early, so people will have plenty of time to enjoy the area.
While this ride won't be long, it will definitely be a beautiful one
We have one gas/restroom stop planned about halfway through. Our final "planned" stop of the day will be at Adirondack Chocolates ( https://www.adirondackchocolates.com ), in Wilmington. NY. This location is pretty much at the split of Veteran's Memorial Highway ( https://whiteface.com/todo/whiteface-veterans-memorial-highway/ ) and the rest of everything else to do in the Lake Placid area.
